Memories of Brighton

The images I have chosen in my portfolio have a cinematic influence and are reminiscent of shots traditionally used to inform the movie-going audience of the focus subject as well as informing them of their surrounding environment. I like to use photographic shots to convey a point of view and create an emotional impact on the audience in the same way motion films are great at guiding the viewer through each scene. I chose Brighton as my subject matter and wanted to create the feeling of someone remembering their trips there with fondness. But as time goes on, memories begin to fade into a series of familiar feelings and fleeting flashbacks. I chose black and white to create a sense of timelessness and ambiguity of who's memories we are viewing.
